december 8:christmas music

Ah, how we love the melodious songs and meaningful hymns of Christmas time!  We have our favorites, mainly the ones we sing as a family at home, like our evening ritual of, “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel”.  We also enjoy some songs that are not as common and maybe slightly more trendy like U2’s “Baby Please Come Home and Sufjan’s “It’s Christmas, Let’s be Glad” and “We’re going to the Country”.

Last Christmas, my dad made a CD of  Handel’s Messiah for the boys, they’ve listened to it almost every night since and refuse to trade it for something else, but to me it will always be some of my favorite Christmas music.

Marshall wanted me to add that his favorite part of  “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel” is, “and death’s dark shadow put to flight”.
